music monday: motown remix

it's a 2fer!  i grew up listening to oldies.   lots and lots of oldies.  when i was in grade school my radio alarm was set to the oldies station so i woke up to 50's and 60's am-style radio.  later on, mom bought me the time-life am gold collection.  in the past couple of years i've dug a lot deeper into mid-century soul and harder-to-find motown-style music (this led later to evolve into my interest in funk and disco).  needless to say, at this point i'm pretty much over motown.  still love it, but don't really want to listen to it right now.

but...  it's always nice to hear something with fresh ears.  i stumbled across this remix of a supreme's song and i can't stop listening to it!  it's amazing!  drop out orchestra blended my love of sweet soul music and dj-loungey-electronica.  i've listened to this on repeat several times.

and, when i was playing music the other night i put a couple of jane doze songs on and remembered this gem that fits in perfectly with a motown remix post: it's a mashup of ratatat and marvin gaye with tammi tarrell.  amazing!

  1. I believe the AM Gold collection was purchased for your parents and you "borrowed" the entire collection and never gave it back!?
