just finished the star field cargo blanket. this is the backside which looks like a negative. it's handmade and machine quilted, and i used a variegated gray and white thread. check out the finished product on my web site: jimmymcbride.com
just made the first batch of new winter bike hats. double layered and super warm. and they keep your ears warm! available at b's bikes in greenpoint, brooklyn.
i made, what i imagined to be, a future version of a basic cargo blanket. one that my space trucker might find in the cargo bay of his ship. i thought this would be an interesting background for a star field quilt. i'm projecting an image of ancient, white dwarf stars in the milky way onto it and machine quilting stars into it.
laura pelcher, a producer from npr's science friday recently did a studio visit with me. she just posted her article on the science friday blog, and there's even a picture of me in front of the pillars!
tim's a bike guy and we're on about the third patch job for this pair. these are still looking pretty good (i've refused to repair more than one pair because they were too far gone.) a.p.c. new cure f
i have been a proponent of having your own flag for a long time. i've had my flag for about 8 years. actually, i had to make a new one last year because the old one was tattered (i.e. awesome!) this is my friend alex's. he gave me the design he wanted and i made it for him. he's a bike guy (not a nazi)
he also makes amazing jewelry. check it out: alexander pakis
got all the pieces of the "sandwich" put together and have started quilting the pillars of creation quilt. i also moved into a new studio space this week and it's more than double the size of my old one! even though it's still kind of a wreck in there, the quilting hoop was the first thing to go up, so i didn't have to wait to get started.
